Just Like That

Just like that, I blinked and February 2012 is nearly over. A few bright spots with no photos. Lame, I know. (an after nap edit saved me, I added some photos!)

:: Thursday, February 16th, I got a text from this girl. She was in town and had some time to visit, did I? Yes, please! We had lots of good times 'back in the day', so many, many laughs. Seriously. But then life moves on (good and sad) and we don't see each other, work together, laugh together or hang out anymore. Her visit was timely and perfect. Thanks Ang, loved seeing you! Added bonus, watching her darling daughter Q with Owen. Old friends (as in long time, not years of age. never that) are the best.

:: We've had basketball every weekend this month with not much conflict between both boy's teams. Dane has had a stellar team, some of those 2nd/3rd graders have a very high basketball IQ. They already know how to play and play well. How, I'm not exactly sure. They would beat me and I'm twice their height! They've won every game by miles. Nate's team has struggled big time. They haven't won a single game but they haven't given up either (well a couple kids may have). We are definitely ready to move on to soccer. At least I think we're ready for that, ha. We start this week ready or not, all feet in. Three games this Sat.

:: Reed has been really funny this past week. Every day/week really but Friday I decided to write some of it down (I do remember a couple I forgot once I got to the paper, my brain!) He keeps me laughing much of the time. All of that keeping me younger, right? Everyone could use a Reed in their life.
~ He woke up late and with a sleepy face he asked, 'What day is it?' I answered, 'Friday'. He woke right up and said he loved Friday! Must've been long week, ha.
~ He picked up my iPod before school (it's off limits then), opened the weather app and started scrolling through the days. He said, 'clouds. sun. rain. snow???' (exaggerated question voice). He wasn't happy about the weather when it mentioned snow.
~ After he was dressed and ready I told him he was 'stinking cute'. He smiled and ran off. A good 20-30 minutes later he came running up to me and told me I was 'stinking lovely'. Hilarious. I love that it took him a bit to get his comeback ready.
~ When it was time to get the kids from school he said, 'we're off to get the kiddos'. I never say kiddos.

:: Owen is completely adorable and still growing like crazy (what kind of mom doesn't have a current photo of her adorably cute 3.5 month old?? taking some post nap later today). He is such a good, good baby. I've been blessed with really good babies. Every one of them. I don't even like to say that very often because of those moms with colicky babies or horrible sleepers. I feel for them, it has to be draining. I don't have much to complain about with him. Though lots of work and patience because he's still a baby, it's not bad because of his good nature. It's much, much harder for me once they hit 15 months or so. Then I'm overwhelmed.

:: This Wednesday we are going to New Beginnings because Kathryn will turn 12 this year (not until November). Really, It's unbelievable to me we are already at this stage. I remember turning 12 and feeling myself shift into an 'older' kid. She is there. We've recently had a few grown up talks (read- 5th grade video time at school) and she has taken them very well. For being so innocent and a little naive, I could see her maturity emerging. So cliche, but it really does feel like I was just picking her up from preschool last year. Or maybe kindergarten.

:: Today, my grandma turns 88. She told me she was born a Leap Year and my great grandma was worried about having her on the 29th. She made it with a day to spare, whew. Happy Birthday Grandma!

:: Here we go March. Sure to include many hours of soccer practices and games. In the wind, no doubt.

After nap photos.....

Love these boys.

I think you're stinking lovely, too. What a funny kid.

Oh man. Kat can't be that old. Really. She can't be. You just got her. I remember twelve, too.

Reed and Owen are adorable. Really adorable.

I'm so glad you posted.

I think your boys are very cute. Good genes.

We are having new beginnings as well and all of the girls coming in are in seth’s class. Then, I realized in one month, he’ll be in ym! Doesn’t it seem like we’ve been blogging for forever? I mean, these were our babies a few years ago! Now, we just have more babies:)
