Amen

Today we had our primary program at church. And because of bloggers and their good ideas, I told the kids that our new tradition would be to take a photo at church the day of the program. They were so cute today. I even had Kat sleep in sponge curlers. She's a trooper and only complained about the lumpy head at bed once. I told her it could be worse, I wore them almost every Sat night!

The spirit was strong throughout our whole sacrament meeting. This year our theme was I am a Child of God. And we sang some of my favorite primary songs. Called to Serve, We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet, I Love to See the Temple, If the Savior Stood Beside Me and a couple more. I just kept getting goose bumps and feeling such love for our primary group. Each part started with, 'My name is ____ and I am a child of God.'. It was amazing and after they would say their part, I wanted to say amen in complete agreeance with their sweet testimonies. The whole thing was just perfect!

I love that every year when we have our Saturday morning practice, things do not look good as far as reverence and song/part memorization goes. Yesterday was no different. I looked at a couple other leaders after we finished and we all just shrugged our shoulders, hoping and praying that today the kids would pull through with what they've been taught all year. Different it was too. We had every single kid in our ward show up and didn't have to skip any written parts. That has not happened for a couple years in our ward (if ever actually). We used an idea off of Sugardoodle and handed out comment cards with the bulletin. We read them to the kids for sharing time and it was a great way to end the Sunday in primary. The kids loved hearing what the ward members had to say and to be honest, so did I.

I think I've mentioned before how much (!) Nathan loves to sing. Loves it! In fact, he and a girl in his class have this unspoken contest about who can sing the loudest. And there in no denying that Nate was the loudest. By at least a mile. I have told him every single Sunday not to yell the songs. His teacher has told him, other leaders. But when the program gets here and dear Kortni puts her hand to her ear for the kids to sing louder, he lets loose!

This was on a comment card from my friend's 17 yr old son (look a little like a note from Napoleon? Chris you have a future just like him, ha.) They sit in the back and heard Nate sing every word of every song! I couldn't see their faces from where I was on the stand but I'm pretty sure they were laughing too.

I had to hold myself back from getting up and telling him to tone it down. I wanted to but at the same time, I know little boy years and programs like this will be few (hopefully) and to just enjoy his extreme enthusiasm while it lasts. It's endearing how much he loves the primary songs. Actually it might be annoying to others and just endearing to his mom.

The kids parts were.....

Kathryn- My name is Kathryn and I am a child of God. I will show my faith in Jesus Christ by being baptized and confirmed.

Nathan- My name is Nathan and I am a child of God. I chose to follow his plan. I lived with Him in the premortal world. Because of Jesus Christ's Atonement I will be able to live with Heavenly Father again.

Dane- My name is Dane. Je suis enfant de Dieu. (we had 5 or so kids say their part in a different language, Dane chose French)
