Five (+2) for Friday

1. The life of being the 4th child. Reed was ready for bed, in his pajamas, waiting for me to be done with the nightly routine of getting the other 3 in bed so he could have his turn. When I came out of the boys room, this is how I found him. Oh how sad, he just got too tired of waiting for me. In my defense, he wasn't crying. He just gave up and went to sleep. Don't you love how he puts the blanket over his head to fall asleep?

2. Yesterday I was feeling sorry for myself. I was grumpy and whiny and it took most of the day (or all of it) to shake it off. I was supposed to go out of town and see Phantom with 'the girls' for my mother in law's birthday. Due to circumstances completely out of mine and Milo's control (work), I wasn't able to go. I wasn't mad at anyone or anything in particular, it was just an off day. , I've seen the play twice before so that's not what I missed most about the day. More than anything, I was let down because of not getting 'away'.

In an effort to get out of the crummy mood I was in, I went around and took photos of fall leaves. Mostly with the intent of participating in the October Monthly Special from Take Out Photo (no photos was my excuse last month). Dane was at preschool and Reed was chattering away in his car seat totally cooperating with me so I even got to take my time. I'm so happy the girls had such a good time in Spokane. How can you not when you see Phantom?

3. Soccer came to an end last night. Remember how Nathan's team has lost every single game? Well last night they WON by actually playing soccer! I was so happy for the kids but mostly happy for the coach. I know he felt defeated because he really did work with these kids at every practice and they just couldn't make it happen when it came time for the games. But last night they looked like they had actually been taught something. It was so cute because the first goal they thought was luck but when they kept getting them they started to get a competitive fire. They jumped up and down every single time they got a goal. There is no score keeping in U7 soccer but last night these kids didn't miss a single one. They were chanting, twelve to five. Twelve to five.

4. Milo and I are going out tonight. Nothing big or exciting. Probably just dinner (cause there's nothing else to do here) but either way it's without kids and I think we'll both take the break. Nice, quiet dinner conversation. Perfect end to a long week. Thanks Marion!!

5. At 10 months, Reed is finally crawling. Today he was actually up on all fours to make it to the phone. He still does all sorts of crawls... forward on all fours, backward on all fours, a frontward army crawl and a serious combination of rolls to get where and what he wants. He also crawls himself backwards into a sitting position. Adorable.

6. My new glasses came in today. I have put of going to the eye doctor for a long time. It's just one of those appointments that I don't think about. Until I put on my old, stretched out glasses on that is. When Milo made his appointment, he made one for me too (thanks again!). I think I'm really going to like this pair of glasses. They have a bit more 'bling' that I've ever had on glasses (rhinestones along the top and bottom of the ear pieces) and I've never had a black pair but I think they are a good fit. What do you think?

7. Oh just one more. I got the best deal on gas the other day. It was only $2.75 a gallon!! Can you even believe that's a steal? Well it is since not long ago we were well over $4 a gallon. I filled my very empty van for less, really less, than $50!! I left the gas station with a smile and had to call Milo. And tonight when we drove by, it was $2.66!
