Random Thoughts

• The van finally has a home. Sure it's sandwiched between boxes and shelves but it's inside the garage! Every time we come home and I pull into the garage, Reed says, 'Car go night, night.' I love it.

• I jog/walked my first 5k. It was the 3rd annual Clot Trot for hemophilia awareness. Clever name, no? I was slow and could have been a little faster (I'm sure that's a classic line but I really mean it) but a new friend that has a 4 month old baby just couldn't go any faster. I went ahead of her twice but she would push herself to catch back up. It felt so wrong to runaway a 3rd time. We had a good chat so that counts for some thing. Plus I'm pretty sure I can beat my time next go around.
• Funny story from the 5k. It was put on by a Mormon family and their teenage son is the one with hemophilia. At the end of the race as they were announcing winners for each age group, this one family had someone in the top 3 of almost every age division. Big time family of runners. When he called out the winner for women age 40-49, he said her name and then in an excited voice yelled, 'Sister Soandso, come on up and get your prize.'. Cracked me up.
  

• The yard here hasn't been taken care of for a few years, or so it seems, and we've been pruning and chopping the trees and bushes back like crazy. I've become a bit obsessed with getting these mammoth dandelions out too. I swear they must be 5 years old, some of them have a root stalk 2 inches in diameter (this is a smaller one).
  

• This is actually a small amount of the hundreds I've picked in the last week. Doesn't everyone hate dandelions and want them gone? It's just wrong that we've had 2 garbage bags full of them. We've sprayed but it's so much faster to dig them out. Almost finished.
  
• Last week was the Space Derby at pack meeting for Nathan (and Milo). Thank heavens it wasn't nearly as crazy as the pinewood derby. It took a bit for the men to figure out the track but the boys had fun. Dying camera batter=very blurry photos.
  

• We had a fabulous weekend getaway this past weekend to celebrate our 10 year anniversary (post tomorrow). Marion offered to watch the kids and we took off for Seattle. It was lovely, stress free (not even much traffic, really), quiet in the car and perfect.

• Springtime in Seattle is green and gorgeous! I love the scenery and am so glad I didn't do any of the driving, I like to look around too much. If it weren't for all the rain that made it that lush and green, I might love living there. The colors are so vibrant I want to stop and take photos everywhere. The color of this flower, the size of this leaf, the moss on this trunk. All of it.
