Fourteen

I am 14 weeks pregnant. **

There, I said it. Out loud. I've known for weeks upon weeks (beginning of March to be exact) but have not felt anything close to ready to tell people (anyone but Milo really). With an early complication of low progestrone leading to shots 3x's a week, I haven't wanted to tell anyone. We've had weekly ultrasounds and blood draws to check in on the baby. Even knowing this has been a healthy pregnancy from the start despite that complication, the anxiety has still been very present. I just couldn't get over it and share the news. I'm not really sure how to explain it, it doesn't make much sense but 'it is what it is'. Our moms do know, though they haven't known for very long. At least they aren't finding out from the blog!

Even now, I wanted to keep it in a little longer but to be honest, my pants are tight and with hoodie weather leaving us I'll have nothing to hide my 'new look'. Plus, we wanted to tell the kids and once they knew, we both knew it would be over. We are so excited. It's been the first pregnancy Milo and I have kept to ourselves for this long. It's been a fun little secret. After making it through last August, this feels good. We don't want to mistake our silence for not being happy. We are very happy.

Reed has gone with me to my weekly ultrasounds all the way back to week 5. They have a bucket of dinosaurs in the ultrasound room and he happily played on the floor with every one of the dinos. We never told him what we were there for or what the tech was doing. She would mention things like, 'baby looks great, there's the heartbeat, growing nicely' but never did we point things out to him and she often said it quietly. One week after my appt, I asked him what we were there for and matter of fact he said, 'to see the baby in your tummy.' I was floored. That was at least a month ago and he's never mentioned a word of it to the other kids. Surprising too because he never stops talking.

We told the kids tonight after an FHE lesson on The Proclamation. We tried to have Reed tell them what we were doing at my appts. He did say looking at the baby in your tummy once but then he realized he was on stage and started in on a story about a monster. Once the kids laughed at him, he couldn't get back to what we wanted him to say. They were excited, a little surprised I think. All three big kids said they wanted a baby sister. Nathan smartly followed it up with, 'I want one but it will probably be another boy.' Ha, even he gets it.

I surely didn't want another December baby but the jokes on us. Looks like we get another November baby to add to the two we already have. Kathryn on the 14th, Nathan on the 6th. I'm due the 17th so that's going to be an exciting week for.....forever I guess.

Especially this year. I can't wait.

**Disclaimer:: Family, I just didn't have it in me for phone calls or cutesy emails or texts so a post it is. Forgive me.

Wow Mel! Congrats to you guys! I am so surprised and very happy for you. I hope all remains well and you are feeling well. I would have kept it a secret for so long too if it was me!

I was a little nervous opening up an email with only a link. Usually that is some sort of spam or virus. I was ready for it to redirect me to some other site. Haha!

I am 'over the top' excited to have #14! I'm glad I don't have to zip my lips any longer. I about had a split zipper a couple of times but caught myself. Whew! It seems I'm almost as excited for this one as I was my first grandchild, Nathan. Probably because of last August and how tender that time was. I'm thrilled to have another flower in our garden and grateful how my heart continues to grow with each of these sweet spirits that bless my life. Love you much.

Congrats! You were acting a little different last time we were there so maybe that's why... I hope the morning sickness hasn't been too bad and/or you are over it.

Congrats! Happy to hear things are going well. I like to wait as long as I can before telling people, I like it that way. Reed can come over here during the appointments if he gets tired of the bucket of dinosaurs.
