Me and Shaila Lou

Thanks to the insider tip given by Donna, Shaila (my sil) and I left here the first time at 6:42 AM to go yard saleing in Donna's neighbor hood, she was at Time Out for Women, so no hanging out with her this time. Next time Donna! Anyone that knows me very well knows that this must be serious business because I am not a morning person. Ten minutes outside of town I remembered I had forgotten my purse! NOT happy about that one but once we turned around and got it there was not stopping us. We were alone and we were going to enjoy it!

There is a section of the highway that is not very safe to pass big trucks (too curvy and no visibility) and we followed this one truck for quite a while. We were just chatting it up when I read the back of this truck and was truly repulsed!

I had Shaila grab my camera and zoom in! Can you believe what this septic truck says on the back? We were totally grossed out yet disgustingly laughing at the same time. Would you have taken a picture too?

We had a great time going all around Donna's neighborhood, there was a ton of yard sales. A couple other friends went down in their cars and so there was 5 of us trying to make another man's trash our treasure. I didn't find much but I am fine with that, most of it is about the hunt, time away with friends and no time constraints. Shaila found a very cool set of dishes that are retired and bought them all (8 piece setting) for only $15! Perfect condition too so she was quite proud of that.

The rest of the day was shopping, good lunch at Olive Garden, and an ice cream for the ride home. Along with yesterday being Cinco de Mayo, it was also National Scrapbooking Day. We stopped at Craft Warehouse to get a few supplies to help make some handouts for Mother's Day for Marion. When we got there we were just minding our p's and q's when they said grab a number and people scattered. So Shaila and I jumped on a number and didn't win. The next time we were seperated and the empty number next to me was called. I'm not going to lie I was tempted to jump on it and claim the number as my own (I didn't). Shaila comes around the corner and shows me her party bag, she won! She had lots of cute stuff that she left for me, what a sweet girl! Our yard saleing friend Korbi showed up at the store (she is a scrapbook queen!) and we were all about trying to win those prizes.

The store figured out a quick way to get all the numbers off the floor. They said grab as many numbers as you can and we'll call out the rest of the prizes. I always knew my paper thin, razor sharp nails would come in handy one day. I was able to pull up 4 numbers while most other people only had one or two.

There is no way I can accurately describe how funny it all went down. Every time the lady would call a number and we WON, Korbi (here with Beck, her 1 yr old that was great all day long!) would YELL, and jump up and down. It was so funny and Shaila and I were laughing our heads off. I'm sure that the other people thought we were a little on the crazy side. Oh well, good times!

So here's out loot. 3 jars of paper flowers, some stickers (2 sets, maybe some good mail is in order, I'll never use 2 sets and Shaila says she wont use one!), chip board frames and mats, ribbon and ink. Let's just say we were flying high with our winnings!

We had such a great day! I seriously think I need a day like this once a month. That isn't too much to ask is it? I didn't spend that much money yet I had a wonderful day. I am planning more days like this, just for sanities sake! Re-entrance into the real world today was a little tough but by the afternoon the kids and I were back into our groove. We're going again Lou so plan on a couple more early morning Saturdays this summer!

This is my 100th post! I can't believe it! I haven't kept a journal like this since high school. Long overdue to document what my family does and how I feel at this time in my life. I have missed so many important events and life changing experiences with my lack of journaling. The only thing I regret is not starting a blog sooner. I was a lurker for months and months (on many blogs) and this has been such good therapy for me. Thanks for always coming back for more, I love this blogging stuff! Here's to 100+ more...
