Big Boy is 5 Months!

I guess the trend will be to say every month, 'I can't believe Reed is __ months old.' Today he is 5 months and really it's gone so fast. Here he this morning in his bath that he loves. I cannot be dressed for the day or I am soaked afterwards, the kicking and splashing mom has begun.

I know I've said it before but, he is such a good baby. He still sleeps through the night and takes great naps during the day. I can't wait for summer when the afternoon nap wont be interrupted because of having to pick up the kids from school. Speaking of big kids, he loves, loves them. They can get him to laugh at anything. I so wonder what he's thinking when they wont leave him alone.

He still hasn't mastered rolling over from his back to his tummy. If he's motivated enough he will roll from his stomach to his back. But he has to be seriously tempted with a toy or a friend.

He is by far my fattest, biggest baby. Look at those thighs! On Monday he went and had his second round of shots at the Dr's office. He was a champ and in between pokes he sucked his thumb with a sad face. He weighed in at 18.1 lbs (75%), his head was 17.5 in (75%) and he was 28.5 in long (over 97%). So for now he is a tall boy with big legs, that I love to squeeze.

He chews and drools on everything! His shirt is soaked most of the time and if something even comes close to his mouth, watch out he'll try and eat it. It's about time to start cereal/baby food but I dread that stage. It's so messy.

He has started to bite me. I promise you, even with his lack of teeth, it hurts!

He makes the cutest raspberry spit noises when we're driving around. The drawback of that is the big kids think it's so cute when he does it, they answer back with spitting. Yeah, not as cute with them.

He wont let me hold in in the cradle hold anymore. He arches his back and looks behind me wondering why in the heck I'm holding him like a newborn. He always wants to see what's going on.

He can make the funniest faces! I love this one in the tub. It was the last one I took, I guess he was done!

Boy my baby boy is growing. He better start to walk before I come to WA. He might be a little too heavy for ole granny. I can't wait to squeeze those chubby thighs myself. I love all the pictures.

Preston was 18 pounds at a year. What's wrong with my shrimpy kids. Anyway, Reed is fat. Congrats. J/K he's adorable! Happy 5 months!

I love those fat baby thighs -- we call them ham hocks around here. I feel like I say "I can't believe he/she is ___ old already!" about every other day...

Melanie, it's so fun to see his personality at five months. I can't believe you have that much to tote everywhere you go!

I love him. Everytime I see him he does that shy smile, then hides. He fits into your family so well. These pics totally describe him. I love me a big baby!

Oh funny, I think when I read this post I realized I am sometimes figuratively still trying to hold my children in the cradle hold.
Reed is growing cuter every day!

He is darling. I love that bath pic. I have had big baby boys like Reed, and I love it too - except for how heavy it is to carry them around. Your posts about him soothe my nerves about having another one.

I love all the pictures. I understand your hating the solids stage at this age. I hated it too! Reed is so cute. I just went through some baby pictures of Mason and I can't believe how big he was at the time. Was he really that chubby? The pictures don't lie!!

you should run one of those blog tutorials or something where you have to explain something because you do a great job! I am not kidding. I read your instructions on how to make a "direct link" to a certian spot in my blog and I didn't even have to go back and read the directions again! I did it right the first time! Thanks Mel! You are great! How many more exclamation points do you think I can put in this comment????!!!!!!

I think with babies their mothers can't help but be amazed as each month of time passes by. I'm sure it's because they change so much each month and because we can't believe they were inside us for soooo long!

He's such a cutie!

Malcolm saw the last picture, pointed to the water and asked what it was. I said water, and he said he thought it was ice. Funny kid!!

He is so darn cute! I can't beleive he is so old. THat mean my neice is that old too. She was born right after Reed. Time does go so fast. My bab is now almost 20 months and that doesn't seem real. I don't have a baby anymore. He is a toddler. SO sad!

Time goes by so much faster when they are out and not inside while we are pregnant :)
