Five for Friday

Good thing someone started 5 for Friday, so far it's been my only method of blogging this month!

~Dane at the Jog-a-Thon~

1. Dane had his surgery consult on Tuesday of this week. Looks like his surgery will be next Friday (10/17). The office was really backed up the day we were there and I sat in the exam room while my friend lugged Reed around for what seemed like forever (A million thank yous for that too!!). When the surgeon came in the room Dane put on the charm. She fell for it hook line and sinker too. All the while she was gushing over him, I was trying to not be annoyed at how long we'd been sitting in there. He told her all about preschool, dinosaurs and his family. What really got her was when he said he could 'tuck his hernia' back up into place and when he tucked it back into place, it didn't hurt anymore. She cracked up and said, 'I have never had a 5 yr old say something like that to me. This kid needs medicine in his future!' I'd be more that ok with that.

2. Wednesday was the annual Jog-a-Thon for Nathan and Kathryn. I love that it's the only fundraiser that goes on at the school. Both kids were determined to beat their matching scores of 17 laps last year. Kat had a cold last weekend and it's been lingering just a bit this week too. I was worried about her running that much but she pushed through and ran 21 laps!! Go KAT!! She even took Dane on one of her last laps.

Nathan was really looking forward to the Jog-a-Thon. He practices at lunch recess almost everyday. The local paper was there and chose a couple first graders to interview and quote in the paper. It said- 'Nathan Bushman said his favorite part about the event was "that there's signs up."' They had big poles up for each classroom and they were decorated with the names of the kids. Thus the mention of the signs, I guess he relaly liked them. Whatever, it was so funny. We asked what else he said and he said he also liked the part about the money too! Guess no one told him that it isn't his money, ha! His tag said he ran 20 laps but he has been quick to correct us and say that he really ran 21 and noone marked him on his last lap. Who knows. Either way, that's a lot of laps for both kids!

3. Rock chips WILL crack and spread on the very first night it freezes. DO NOT procrastinate taking care of such a small problem like I so foolishly did. Otherwise it turns into a $300+ problem such as this. This does not make me happy.

4. Right before soccer started this week, these big, dark, ugly clouds rolled in. It would stop and start so our team went on with the game (most others called it and left). It was wet and windy and cold. Reed, Kathryn and I ended up leaving not too long after it started. Reed was not a fan of cold rain in his face. Poor Nathan came home so cold. And sad. They lost again and it's really starting to bug him. We're staying positive but it's so hard to see him so sad. I hope they can at least get a couple goals next week.

5.I've written at least 3 posts in my head this week. So much going on and I hate when I don't take the time to write it all down. When I wait to blog, my memory fades and the posts just don't happen. So why do I wait?!
