The Past Week Highlights

When will I learn to not brag it up? I was so proud of my blogging consistency in January, I mentioned it and now I've fallen off the wagon. Duh, why even say something?! Just a few highlights to get caught up.

  • Milo was gone most of last week for work meetings in Reno. The kids were good and everything was fine while he was gone but doing it alone is tiring. He was definitely missed. I didn't do much laundry, much blogging, much of anything at night except some TV. We were all glad when he got home.
  • I did last week's SPT but then never posted it. The idea was, I love it when....... when Milo leaves me notes. He left this hanging above the stove the morning he left for Reno and I left it there the whole time he was gone. He used to write me all the time the first few years we were married and he worked graveyard and had lots of time on his hands. The notes have somewhat dwindled so I do love when he leaves me one.
  • We had stake conference last weekend and I loved the adult meeting. I'm sure it has something to do with listening to the speakers without being asked for a snack or a crayon. The talks were short but meaningful and that is right up my ally. I was wishing the whole time I had some paper for notes. Something I have when the kids are with me. So I can't remember what was said, just that I left with a good feeling. That night Reed started a hacking cough so he and I stayed home for the Sunday meeting. I heard I missed a good meeting.
  • Our house deal ended up going south while Milo was gone last week. It stung (!) but I'm over it. Well, I'll tell you all about it so when I mean I'm over it, I mean I wont cry over it. Wrong people, wrong timing. Either way, definitely not what we wanted. At least we have a house, right?
  • Monday was the 100th day of school and in Nathan's class they needed to make a project with 100 of the same item. He was dead serious about making a dog out of macaroni. He said it would be so easy, he would get a sphere for the head, some cylinders for the legs and body, cut some noodles into a triangle for the ears and he told me he'd have to think about the rest! That is easy??!! I told him that wasn't a good idea and he was a little disheartened I wouldn't oblige his imagination (don't judge me for squashing his dream, he got over it real quick). Marion suggested an igloo with sugar cubes but we settled on this much easier pyramid. He came home proud that people liked it but he was only second best according to him. The best one in his eyes was the one his friend made out of a house/maze of 100 playing cards. I'll have to remember that one.
  • Speaking of Nathan, all of the sudden he has ideas for his hair and how he wants it cut. He wants the top long, the sides short and he tells me how he wants it styled. In a mohawk, flat in the front, the front sticking straight out, not up. On the last one, I asked him why straight out, it looks better spiked up a little bit. His quick answer was, 'Uncle Tom wears it that way and I want to too!' Alright then, straight out it was (even if I didn't like it).
~Gnawing on one of Gramimi's scones. He loved them!~
  • Reed is so, so close to walking. He'll make it all the way across the room and I love his wobbly walk. Once he falls, he can't decide if it's faster to get back up and wobbly walk or take off and crawl. Right now he's about half and half so in another week or two I think we'll have a big boy walking all the time. I love it.
  • What I don't love with this stage although it's funny.... pulling out the dishes when I load the dishwasher, finding the drawer under the oven and playing/banging with the glass lids, getting in all my hair color and ripping up a bunch of hair foil, eaing toilet paper, finding every spare pen/pencil in the house and either using it to write or eat and much more curious behavior! All of this while I'm right in the room! He's so curious, so busy. It's adorable but exhausting. Thank heavens he's highly entertained by his older siblings and their crazy antics. Nathan is performing for him right now and he's giggling away. Love it!
  • I have serious issues with mailing things on time. Or mailing at all that is. My nephew has been in the MTC since December 17, I've had a package ready to send for almost a month and I still haven't done it! He leaves for Argentina in 12 days so I've procrastinated long enough! He might get the candy eaten and gum chewed before he leaves, ha (I don't think he can chew this much gum. I told him he could use some of it as a parting gift to those he's leaving behind). So loserish, I know. I'm about to brave the post office with all 4 kids. Wish me luck.

Just so you know Mel, mailing is genetic! I have had valentines to send to the kids and a new wireless modem to send to Kyle and Heidi for about 3 weeks. Why is it so painful? I can't believe Reed is about to walk. I'm really not surprised Nathan wants to tell you how to have his hair done. What surprises me is that you do it. That's why you have so many 'cute' doos in all of your pictures! Ha

I like Nathan's hair in that picture. I think that is funny he is already very specific about it. That is a total bummer about the house deal. Stupid, stupid, stupid. :) See you soon.

The post office is painful. Why is there ALWAYS a line? Sorry about the house situation. But you're right, at least you have a house! Keep us updated on Reed, this ought to be fun:)

I love Milo's note, so sweet!

Nathan cracks me up with his dog noodle idea and hair. My kids always suggest what hair do they want, and majority of the time is mo hockeys!

Can't wait to see little Reedis walking. It's a love/hate milestone!

I'm glad the post office visit was a success!

I seriously have a problem mailing things to. I have a package sitting on my counter to mail my friend Crystal. It has been sitting there since the week BEFORE Christmas!!! I know terrible, add it to the list of things to do, clean, feed, pay, whatever! :)

That's a sweet note from Milo, I love notes like that too though they're rare these days.

We had so much fun Saturday night! Kyle and I think we should all go on triple dates more often even if it is just for icecream. Sorry you missed Sunday but it was good to see the rest of the fam, your boys are preciously cute!

I remember 100 days at school. I used to dread it every year. Can't believe you squashed the dream....ha ha. Milo scores big points with the note. Way to go!

I am a mailing loser right there with you. I let packages and letters sit and sit b/c the post office is across town and my kids are horrible every time we go in. Walking in there is like saying to them, "Start slugging each other." We went today and it was crazy! I'm still recovering.

I remember that one year old stage very well and I'm already anticipating it with Evan. It's crazy busy to get to 18 months with them.

Oh little notes are always so fun to get. I try to leave little love notes for Ryan and my kids.

So sorry about your house.

I love notes too, and I would have left it up all week too!!

I'm so sorry about the house.
We are in SUCH the same stage with one year olds. What you say about REED, I could just copy to my own blog about Brody! It is such a cute stage!

I hear ya on the single parent thing. It is so hard while the hubbies are gone.

The note is so great. Love it.
