This joke pretty much sums up how easily I can get off track.
Person 1- 'How many ADD kids does it take to change a light bulb?'
Person 2- 'I don't know, how many?'
Person 1 (excited voice)- 'Wanna go ride bikes?'
It's that easy! A few of the latest distractions.
The other night the kids had grilled hot dogs for dinner and I was making Milo and I chicken on the stove. I hadn't decided what I was going to make, chicken salad, chicken burgers of some sort. Both us didn't care what we ate as long as it wasn't another hot dog. I had the pan on low, low heat cooking it slow while Milo was doing yard work I was cleaning up after the kids. Milo came in to get me to show me this huge cluster of flowers on our rose bush. The crazy thing is that there were 3 or 4 clusters like it on the whole plant. It was so pretty. I wish I would have counted the blooms because each cluster seemed like it was full of almost 100 flowers.
So I run back in, grab my camera and completely forget about dinner. I stayed out there long enough to annoy Milo (he wanted to water right there) and take 25+ photos. As I was walking back up to the house, I thought of dinner and knew it wasn't going to be good.
I found two chicken breasts smoking like crazy on the stove. They don't look too charred in the photo but they tasted like burnt rubber and we ended up eating hot dogs after all. Classic example of me losing all train of thought, ugh!
Another distraction..... Shaila and I went out with our cameras one night, I was wanting her help with a few things as I was getting ready to take photos for a wedding. I'm no professional and she knows our camera much better than I do.
She ended up being my model and I love every photo I took of her. She's beautiful, simply beautiful. I love how natural and relaxed she is in every one I took. Thanks for the help Lou, I was in desperate need of getting out that night. Tired, hormonal and stressed out are not good combos for me and I came home in a much better mood.
I took photos for the wedding last Friday and I had such a good time. Sara was sweet enough to ask (knowing my skills are limited) and Shaila willingly came with me. It was a good combo, together we got some great photos. Sara was gorgeous, happy and so in love. I think about that sweet, 'young love' every time I work on these photos, they were adorable together! I remember young love but it feels like forever ago in 9 short years.Right now I'm avoiding getting this family ready to go camping this weekend. I've been really excited about going until noon today. The work required to get out of here, the sheer amount of things that need to be packed, it's overwhelming. I'm just hoping we can get there without too many meltdowns (most likely from me). Please, no more distractions!

That's a funny ADD joke!
I'm glad you only ended up with burnt tasting chicken rather than a fire or something, yikes!
The roses are beautiful, I'm so glad you took pictures of them.
The photos you took look lovely!

Those photos look awesome Melanie! I am in the same boat with the learning curve and photography. I have sorta gotten a bug for it.
That joke totally made me laugh. Your photos are wonderful! Both Shaila and the bride.
I am with you on the work of leaving town, it's so daunting it almost doesn't seem worth it! I hope you have a great time.
You're pictures look awesome. I would never guess that you were still "learning". Shaila makes a perfect model!

Seriously, it's been this long since I've read blogs! Pathetic, that's a long time!
Hilarious your distraction making dinner and taking pics instead. Sounds like me, although I haven't ever done it while cooking yet.
Still love the pics of me! You did awesome at making me look good!
We need a night of showing eachother our edits. The more I look at them, the more I want to do it all over again! I just have to stop putting so much time into it!
