Over It

Facebook that is. I've thought about deleting my account for quite a while, probably close to a year, but I just kept not doing it. Good news, I loved keeping up with family and friends and even more loved reconnecting with old ones I haven't talked to in a long, long time. Bad news, I got more and more sucked in as time went on, especially this summer. I hid negative people and ones that used foul language (too bad most of them family members on both accounts) to make it more enjoyable but still I checked it too often. This morning, I felt over it and knew it's what I needed to do. What in the world was I wasting so much time for? Status updates? Gossip? News? Movie reviews? Negativity? It has not been good for me this summer.

Today at church I took the program and when I was done reading the announcements there was this quote under the heading Words from our Prophet. Definitely a light bulb moment after deleting my account...

" We have become so caught up in the busyness of our lives. Were we to step back, however, and take a good look at what we're doing, we may find that we have immersed ourselves in the 'thick of thin things'. In other words, too often we spend most of our time taking care of the things which do not really matter much at all in the grand scheme of things, neglecting those more important causes." (emphasis added)

Yes, President Monson, for me this is exactly what I needed to read. Onto more important causes.
