-The first New Year's Eve the big kids stayed up until 12:30. Oh man did we paid for it the next day.
-Wrap up post for 2010 (Though I fear this post will be ruled by a few major events from the year and that's what's holding me back. I guess 'it is what it is' whether I document or not.)
-Goals/Plans for the New Year. How is it 2011?
-Reed went to Sunbeams on Sunday, that's post worthy isn't it? First child to cry and cling to my skirt. Yes, this boy knows how to pull my heartstrings. I didn't want to leave him.
-Call for ideas for a 'Children's Literacy' station I'm in charge of at our stake RS meeting in February (akin to a station at BYU Women's conference.... I've never attended)
A few other thoughts-
-I'm starting to wonder if Nathan is the only 9 yr old boy that doesn't watch PG-13 movies. I'm not judging you if yours does so no comment but again today I heard him say, 'I don't know what you're talking about, I haven't seen that movie'. To me it's sensible that a 9 yr old doesn't need to watch those movies, they are over his head. Not to mention inappropriate and suggestive. That sentence alone makes me feel old and I wonder if Milo and I are too prudish, but for now we're sticking with it.
-I love the cookie paddles for my Bosch. They are amazing. If you have a Bosch and don't have new cookie paddles, get them. They are worth it. My friend Tara sold me on them (she's a baking master) and put them on my Christmas list. Thanks to Tara for the sell and thanks to Milo for the gift.
-Sugar is killing me right now. I need to rid this house of it and detox, ha. I want 'just a little bit' all day long. Not sure how to accomplish this one other than trashing food and not making more (see above about cookie paddles) but I must figure out a way to choose carrots or an apple. Soon.
-Milo is heading to a Zags game with Mike and Nathan on Saturday and both of them are very excited. I'm hoping to get some of these posts finished. I think the other kids will love to spend the day hooked to the

Literacy Station: Mem Fox (of The Mitten fame) has a great book on helping children want to read. "Radical Reflections" is the name I think. You can borrow my copy. I read it last summer and learned new things. I always love to get a good book list for kids, too.
I know what you mean. This weather makes it so I don't want to do anything, even leave my house. I need sunshine, fast!
I don't think you are being prudish about the movie thing at all. Carson is 10 and doesn't watch pg-13 movies either. So many of his friends do though, so it is starting to become something he is asking to do. I just don't want him to watch them though.So many of the pg-13 movies are just to adult for him--there's tons of stuff I'm not ready to expose him to and not ready to explain about. I'd just like to keep him as innocent as I can for as long as I can.

Oh and don't get me started on the sugar thing. I think I'm literally going through detox right now. I've been a beast all week.
I don't think the sun made an appearance yesterday. Isaac needs a presunbeam class, maybe he will get sent back to nursery. Keep up the no PG13, you are smart and not alone!
It's not prudish to be diligent with your child's spiritual health. Our kids didn't get to watch PG-13 movies until they were 13, and even then certain movies were banned all together. The older/wiser I get, the more I want to shield my kids from having to deal with too early. Stick to your guns! You are indeed wise!

Pick Teri Dean's brain on the Literacy Station. I'm sure she would have an idea or two. PG 13 means you have to be an adult to see the movie. I'm embarrased by some of them. But remember I don't like to watch movies. I'll send some sun your way.
I'm with you on the movies. Unfortunately ratings aren't enough to judge a movie by. I like http://www.kids-in-mind.com/ to fine tune our movie-watching decisions.
Wow, PG-13 movies are so not appropriate for young children, good for you and Milo for watching out for your kids.
I am battling the "just a bit of sugar" issue as well.
