Good Things

It's been longer than I thought since I posted last, a whole week already. Time is just clipping along, 1/2 way through February? Good grief it's almost spring break. Just a few good things going on here lately. Number one....the days of sunshine we've had. Glorious!

We went up for the play this past weekend and maybe you'll think we're crazy but we're going back again this weekend. No surprise, they did an amazing job...again. I felt so nostalgic watching it. I love The Sound of Music. I'll even confess to getting teary eyed a couple times. Hormones? Maybe. But I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me happy and want to sing along (and quote lines) the whole play. The kids in the show were fantastic too, they stole the show.

Look at this set. My aunt's sister (also in the play) painted these stained glass panels on greenhouse plastic. And honestly, this doesn't do it justice. It looked like real stained glass in a cathedral. They had an Abby and gates in front of a cemetery for when they are fleeing Austria. It was perfect.

There's Marion in her pink party dress, aka Elsa the Baroness. She did such a great job, looked so comfortable on stage. We loved watching her. The kids couldn't find her in her nun habit though. They said they all looked the same, ha.

Tonight for FHE, Milo taught a little lesson and then we passed these hearts around the table and wrote why we loved each other. Writing that sounds so much cheesier than it really was. We were laughing (Reed crying and screaming, not his best time of night) and had a good time. I love that Kat wrote 'unique' on each heart. In the bottom of every heart she wrote as many descriptive words as she could think of and ended it with 'the very, very, very, very, best, best, best, best mom (dad, brother) ever.' The boys love that Milo plays sports with them and that he grills good hamburgers and hot dogs. The back of every heart is scribbled on like crazy, that's what Reed loves about us. He drew monsters, clouds, hearts, candy and an airplane. Not that you'd know by looking at it. He knew there was going to be a treat so he kept holding on for it.

One year, I need to search around for a new Valentine's treat that is this easy. I know, a Twinkie, not very good but the kids think it's fun and they've come to expect them.

I didn't want to take a picture of my gift from Milo. I sent him a text earlier in the day asking him to fix our garbage disposal for my Valentine's Day present. 1-so he could warm up to the idea and not get annoyed when I asked him as soon as he walked in the door (it was driving me crazy. something was stuck and the water would drain so slow, disgusting), and 2- I knew I was surprising him with his favorite dinner and this would help him not be too annoyed at cleaning out that nasty thing. It worked!

As soon as the kids went to bed, he took it apart, found the offending piece of plastic that was stuck under the blades and made it work again. I'm practical enough that I loved this gift. My sink drains and it's clean again. The card and pop he left in the fridge were pretty great too. He's funny like that, he left my engagement ring in the bathroom for me to find when he gave it to me but I guess that's a different story for a different day, ha.
