Sunday Firsts

 

Reed wore his first suit today. Oh my goodness, he looked adorable. He thought he was pretty hot stuff and told everyone it was his 'new suit'. My sister in law Heidi gave me this Gymboree suit a couple years ago. It was a hand-me-down from a friend and she didn't want to hang on to it as long as she would need to until it fit Preston. 

It is a size 6 and was too small but Dane wore it to his baptism almost 18 months ago. He squeezed into it the next day as well and then into the closet it went. Looking back at this, Dane has really grown in the last 18 months, wow.

 

 I found it again yesterday when I was cleaning the big boy's room (what an all day job!). Reed couldn't wait to wear it today. It's a little big but if he doesn't wear it now, I'm afraid he'll outgrow it. I think he's in a current growth spurt. Dane wore this a little tight at age 8, Reed a little big at age 5. Yikes, Reed just might catch up to his older brother in size.

 I couldn't resist posting all four pictures. This one cracks me up. He told me this was his best pose, ha.

 And then he gave me a serious one. The hand clasp does me in. I love this 5 year old side kick of mine. He is full of life!

 Another Sunday first, Kathryn talked in sacrament meeting today. They don't mess around in our ward, once you turn 12, they hunt you down and put you on the program. I can't even imagine a talk that young in a ward our size. I'm sure I was closer to 14/15 before I talked in church. Her topic was the First Great Commandment. She read a talk by President Uchtdorf, The Love of God and based her comments and testimony around his words. She was calm and prepared. She wrote her own talk and I only made small edits when she repeated herself a few times. Great job Kat!

She's also feeling like big stuff because the youth in our ward are having a weekend retreat Friday night. They are staying in a lodge a couple hours away. They will have firesides, games and sledding. She can't possibly be old enough for weekend getaways can she??

I have so many more post swirling in my head but I can't seem to get them blogged out. I even have pictures for the following....

~I'm determined to organize this house one closet/project at a time this year. I'm going for low budget here so it wont be with fancy bins and labels, just dumping the excess we don't need or use. I fully realize that once I get near the end of my list it will be time to start over again. But, I have felt behind ever since moving in and I'd like to feel a little lighter in that area. Friday I started in the little boy's room. I was feeling pretty good until I walked back out into the kitchen and found Owen had spilled food all. over. the. kitchen. I pretended I didn't see it and went back to admire all the organized toys. Saturday the big boys and I worked for hours on their room. Details have been neglected in the last year and right now, I'm feeling ready to attack them. Watch out closets!

~Milo and Kathryn attended a Daddy Daughter night for YW a couple weeks ago. A photographer took a cute picture of them together. It prompted me to find the two pictures I have from a similar Daddy Daughter date I went on with my dad (My dad looks soooo young and I have always been loud, you can tell in the photo).  Finding those pictures leads me to another project, picking all my photos off of the sticky backed albums before they are completely ruined.

~I'm currently on a Facebook diet and deactivated my account three days ago. Like most diets, I'm not sure how long this one will last but I needed a break. There wasn't any specific drama that sent me over the edge. Just a feeling to get the 'fluff' out of my life for now. It's been a good three days and a more successful diet than when I try to stay away from sugar. Usually by day three I'm sneaking chocolate chips and so far, no sneaky log ins. If only a no sugar diet was as easy as staying away from Facebook, I'd have it made.
